A rare, large Tibetan flint carrying pouch (also called a mechag or chuck muck), made of leather with repousse silver plaques, inlaid with a large turquoise and coral stones in silver holders. 
Motifs of filigree, scrolling and fish. Adorned with a silver round amulet on the end of the strap. 

The leather purse is made to hold a flint piece and some burnable material. The flint is struck against the iron blade, making a spark which is caught in the material. The top is fitted with brass hardware for hanging from the leather strap. 
 

In good used condition, all original. 
 

Dim: 17,5 x 10,5 cm (15 cm up to the silver amulet)
