A detailed Islamic manuscript painting or illustration of the famous Persian poet and mystic Jalal Ad-Din Muhammed Balkhi better known as Rumi (1207-1275) surrounded by Dervish. 

There are a few accounts of Rumi's life, his son's and the one written by the dervish Aflaki in 1360 are known, so is the centuries later version and translation ordered by the Ottoman sultan Murad III in 1590 (after another version from 1540).
In 1230 the famous dervish Burhan-Al Din Muhaqqiq decided to devote his life to the spiritual training of the then young man Rumi. He taught him Sufi doctrine and was his mentor. 
The dervish influence and importance in the life of Rumi are depicted in the painting.
This illustration is painted after the one from the 1590 version of Murad III. 

In good order, recently framed and behind glass.
