Alfred Janniot Art Deco Orientalist watercolor

€ 325

Alfred Auguste Janniot (France 1889-1969)

Ca 1930 Art Deco

Orientalist watercolor on paper by the renowned Art Deco sculptor and artist Janniot, who won the Prix de Rome in 1919 and produced his most famous work, his bas reliefs, in the 1930's. There are some drawings and watercolors known by Janniot, mostly nudes and the female form.
There are African influences (mostly animals) to be found in his sculpting but this is a rare and lovely scene from daily life, women busy with their tasks in the country.

Set behind glass in a wood gilded frame from the period.
Normal signs of the age and lightning effect on the paper, but overall in good condition.
